An ideal destination for a getaway at any time of year
The official capital of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and situated below sea level, Amsterdam is a city unlike any other. Opening out onto the North Sea, it is criss-crossed by a network of concentric canals of great architectural richness, which have earned it its famous nickname, the ‘Venice of the North’. With its famous gabled houses and its status as the cycling capital, Amsterdam stands out for its unique identity. Living to the rhythm of two-wheeled transport, the city charms visitors with its friendly atmosphere and timeless charm. Whatever the season, the pleasure of strolling along its canals and through its picturesque alleyways remains undiminished. The city has no shortage of museums to explore. Museumplein brings together some of the country’s greatest artistic treasures, whilst the Rijksmuseum houses Rembrandt’s masterpieces, alongside those at the Van Gogh Museum. Added to this is the poignant visit to the Anne Frank House. Finally, Amsterdam is also renowned worldwide for its culture of freedom.
