Conditions of transport in Luxembourg

Children who have not yet reached the age of 4 must be accompanied by a person who has reached the age of 12 at least, otherwise they are not admitted to public transport.

Children under 12 years of age are entitled to free transport in 1st class if accompanied by a person of at least 12 years of age in possession of a valid transport ticket for 1st class. Free admission is limited to two children in this case.

Children who have reached or exceeded the age of 12 years and children under 12 years of age travelling alone in 1st class must be provided with a valid transport ticket in 1st class.

Depending on the age of the children and young people and the conditions of the carrier, they can travel for free or benefit from a discounted ticket.

Conditions of transport in the RegioZone busses and the Saarbrücken-Express

Children under 12 years of age are entitled to free transport if accompanied by a person of at least 12 years of age in possession of a valid transport ticket. However, if the journey is entirely made abroad, this free of charge isn't granted.

Children under 6 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

"Studentepass RegioZone"
The RegioZone fare for cross-border bus links is based on a single progressive fare and valid in all cross-border RGTR lines (except the bus line L40 Saarbrücken-Express).
The discounted "Studentepass RegioZone" cost 130 €.

"Studentepass Saarbrücken-Express"
The Saarbrücken-Express fare is based on a single progressive fare and only valid ont the busline L40 Saarbrücken-Express.
The discounted "Studentepass Saarbrücken-Express" cost 200 €.

The 2 discounted "Studentepass" subscriptions are only available for purchase on the CFL mobile app from 12 years old.
The “Studentepass RegioZone” and the "Studentepass Saarbrücken-Express" are valid for unlimited journeys on cross-border RegioZone bus lines, respectively on the line L40 Luxembourg-Saarbrücken, from the day it is validated until the same day of the following year at 4 am.
They are not valid on international train journeys.

Pupils and students can acquire an annual subscription "Studentepass Regio" according to the following conditions:
  • pupils under 25, attending a secondary school
  • students under 30, studying at a university and in possession of a student card
However, in case of a ticket control, students under 30 years old will have to present a valid student registration or student card.

Please note: The "myCard," issued by the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth allows students to travel free on the lines L01, L02, L03, L04, L05, L06, L07, 130 and 173 without a "Studentepass".
