Discover nature, history and stunning views

Visit Trier

Sometimes all it takes is a good connection and a free moment to exchange everyday life – even just for a few hours – for something greater. In this anniversary year celebrating 40 years of UNESCO World Heritage, Germany’s oldest city transforms into a true stage. The Porta Nigra, the cathedral and the Imperial Baths are not just impressive backdrops, but vibrant landmarks – inviting you to marvel, rediscover and pause for a moment.

Arriving in Trier means experiencing history while immersing yourself in the unique Moselle atmosphere: lively squares, characterful alleyways, unexpected viewpoints – and always that special feeling of being part of something timeless. In this way, a simple excursion becomes a small journey through 40 years of World Heritage – whenever the mood strikes you.

On foot or by bike, the region around Trier enchants with its varied landscapes and stunning panoramas. The Moselsteig trail winds through vineyards and historic sites. The heights of the Eifel and Hunsrück frame the river with forests and meadows. From Trier, cycling paths extend in all directions, inviting you to explore idyllic wine villages and picturesque river landscapes.

As the cultural heart of the region, Trier elegantly combines nature, history and the art of living – perfect for anyone seeking variety and authentic experiences. With a wide range of attractive shops and restaurants, Trier is a city not only to visit, but to truly enjoy.

With the reactivation of the “Weststrecke”, passengers now benefit from an expanded train service between Luxembourg and the Trier area. The western part of Trier is now perfectly connected to rail transport to and from Luxembourg thanks to five new stops (Trier-West, Trier-Pallien, Trier-Zewen, Trier-Euren and Trier-Hafenstraße).

Take the direct trains that connect Luxembourg Station with Trier twice per hour! With the “Day Return Ticket”, you can choose between 2nd class and 1st class and travel from the CFL station of your choice to Trier. The “Bicycle Day Ticket” (2nd class) also allows you to take your bike along with ease.
