Route description

This charming route around Arlon is a real tip for cycling enthusiasts. Let yourself be guided for a varied and quite sporty bike excursion.

You leave the functional station which has recently been renovated and we immediately step over your bike. At the exit of the large car park, you go down to the right towards the centre of the village where at the height of the church, turn left in the direction of Sterpenich (border town). You cross Autelbas-Barnich and your warm-up ends at the top of the slight climb towards the N4.

In the long descent to Clairefontaine, turn right towards the abbey with its old walls and the picturesque hamlet, in the direction of Eischen and Gaichel. As different regional cycle routes (shown on LBC maps) make up this tour, GPS navigation is needed.

The path continues partly on the "Belarel" and Ravel cycle paths before crossing the small villages Bonnert, Tontelange, Grendel, Attert and Schadeck alternate with interesting interurban passages that the Belgian bike enthusiasts respectfully call it a rugged course. You pass the villages of Lischert, Tattert and Lottert.

The cycle path from Sampont to Vance runs alongside the busy N83, before turning left in the rural area of Chantemelle and Buzenol. In this long-shaded forest part and after having passed the picturesque green valley you pass in front of the Moulin de Buzenol.

After Ethe, Bleid, Mussy-la-Ville, and before arriving at Saint-Léger and Châtillon, you must go around the vast prohibited military zone (forest zone - Lagland camp) and before taking a break in Arlon, your itinerary passes through Meix-le-Tige, Udange and Wolkrange.

You approach Arlon with its legendary "Areler Knippchen" and the short exhausting ramps that bring you to Arlon station.
