Rail motorway

The rail motorway platform provides transfers from the road to rail, in particular transfers of non-craneable semi-trailers based on an innovative technology developed by LOHR. The trains assembled via this platform run on 1,100-km line between Bettembourg and Le Boulou on the French-Spanish border.

Our efficient staff provides a full-service transfer of semi-trailers from road to rail:

  • preparation for transport
  • shipment gauge and load distribution control
  • securing of semi-trailers
  • unloading of semi-trailers

The platform's main characteristics are:

  • open 24/7
  • 2 platforms of 700 m each
  • simultaneous loading of 40 semi-trailers on 20 wagons per full train
  • 7 jockey tractors for loading/unloading trains

The rail motorway is located at the CFL multimodal site in Bettembourg, which also hosts the combined terminal. The site is equipped with electronic weighing system and the latest technology in terms of security and surveillance: each utility vehicle is photographed from all sides, with optical number plate recognition, when it enters and leaves the site.
