Bettembourg, July 12, 2017 - Over the course of four days, more than 12,000 visitors had the opportunity to discover the new intermodal terminal of Bettembourg-Dudelange. Welcome to Containerland: there was something for every taste and every age group.
The festivities began with the inauguration ceremony on Friday 7 July, in the presence of HRH the Grand Duke, Mars Di Bartolomeo, President of the Chambre des Députés, Etienne Schneider, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Economy, François Bausch, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure and the Mayors of Dudelange, Dan Biancalana, and of Bettembourg, Laurent Zeimet.
On Saturday morning, nearly 2,500 inhabitants of the communes Bettembourg and Dudelange had the chance to be among the first to discover the terminal. The afternoon activities were dedicated to employees of the CFL Group and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, as well as their families.
More than 7,000 people had registered for Sunday's Porte Ouverte. Many families visited the 33ha site, the equivalent of 45 football stadiums. The terminal tour by bus, the discovery of the job-village and the infotainment area attracted the attention of the many visitors who also enjoyed the summer atmosphere and various other activities.
The festivities concluded with nearly 700 pupils from different secondary schools in Luxembourg this Monday morning. Their visit was mainly devoted to the presentation of the more than 100 different jobs at the CFL group.
The Containerland event was a real success for the CFL group, which for the first time opened the doors of its terminal to explain its activities, mainly to promote multimodal logistics, to both companies and the general public.
